Faith

In the world, food addiction looks absurd to some, but for me, I KNOW that it is real--a physical, emotional and spiritual malady that can be arrested one day at a time by following certain "rules". (Never liked the word "rule"; my back goes up and I want to run screaming, "Don't tell me what to do!")

HOWEVER, I have found that when I eliminated sugar, flour, wheat and artificial sweeteners from my weighed and measured food plan, I got out of my self-destructive rut. I stopped searching for the perfect diet or the best exercise program that was going to get me thin, and I started living life.

Little did I know that thin was not well!

Today, I am happy. I have clarity of mind and I am serving God in ways that I had never even imagined. It's the good life.

I was going to quote Hebrews 11 this morning, but Hebrews 10:35 caught my eye:

"Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord, no matter what happens. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised."

Today I know that my trust is in the Lord, however, I got abstinent by trusting in people who had gone before me. I asked a sponsor to show me the way because I saw that she had something that I couldn't get on my own... And even though I loved God, I still couldn't get free without help from a fellow food addict who knew the way out.

So faith in God, faith in program...

"What is faith? It is confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see."

Hebrews 11:1
